It is going to be the biggest cycling event in Wales when the top most professional cyclists will be joining the amateurs for a dual distance race of over 120km and 50km this summer that will start and finish both in Cardiff.
Velothon Wales has set up its mind to put up the country in the international cycling map and also boost its reputation that they too stage big sports events. It is also the best opportunity to show off the beautiful scenic view of the country.
It is holding a fully closed road event on 14 June next year where as much as 10000 riders along with Union CyclisteInternationale sanctioned riders will be starting and finishing the race at the middle of Cardiff. This race will be attracting many top riders and their teams.
There will be two racing distances to choose from-120km and 50km but the riders will be assured of all the safety measures taken because of full closure of the roads. At the end of the race the participants are allowed to join the spectators to see the race in the Cardiff City Centre.
Jonny Clay, Membership Director for British cycling says that mass participation in this type of elite level road racing is going to be a very successful method of staging major events in the coming years. He is confident of the fact that as many as thousand people are eager to participate in the race either as spectators or as participants.
Velothon Wales is providing an opportunity to amateur riders of all ages to follow the footsteps of legends like Luke Rowe, Becky James and Geraint Thomas. These people have been very inspirational to the public.
The entry fee for the race is $55 for 120km and $40 for 50km road.
